ConnectiCare

 

ConnectiCare, based in Farmington, CT since 1982, prides itself on being a company with superior customer service, and award-winning disease management programs for its members with chronic conditions. Founded by a group of doctors from Hartford Hospital, ConnectiCare was born with the mission of establishing a health plan that would truly care about its members. 24 years later and 550 employees strong, ConnectiCare still lives by that same mission, serving more than 245,000 individuals in Connecticut, western Massachusetts, and the four counties of Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester, New York.

 

ConnectiCare needed a streamlined system to support the work of its Sales and Marketing departments, Operations areas, and Pharmacy department. The goal was to consolidate pharmacy benefit selection, employer group assignment, and benefit review functions into one process. Each benefit would then be linked to a line of business and a pre-assigned Benefit Plan Level (BPL) number.

 

Summit Technologies analyzed ConnectiCare’s pharmacy benefit design and its relationship to their business structure. Summit’s consulting team collaborated with ConnectiCare to develop the BPL Generator and link it to other ConnectiCare systems. Detailed data modeling and integration were used to create one client/server design. Technologies involved:

  • DTS
  • Crystal Reports
  • Visual Basic

ConnectiCare's departments now have a more efficient and accurate group enrollment process. Additionally, the services implemented provide source data for sales and marketing collateral generation and facilitates more efficiently pharmacy benefit reporting.
